Thursday was may the 4th, so of course I wore my darth vader tie. It got good press from everyone. We had our zone leaders come by our apartment to pick up some baptismal clothes, they bought a chicken to eat on our roof. One of them is this guy from panama, Ive known him for a long time (over a year) but only now he revealed that he is fluent in english and worked as a flight attendant before the mission. So he has been understanding our english this whole time..
Friday we had a really good lesson with ximena. We have had her as an investigator for a long time, since I got here really (so about 4 months) and she has only came to church one time and never really progressed. But the difference this time was that she called us, while we were walking to visit someone else and she asked us if we could visit her because she had read in the Book of Mormon. As soon as she called me I knew something was happening because people don't usually call us asking for us to visit them, its usually the other way around haha. So we basically went straight there, and it was the first time we have had a real real lesson with her. We hadn't even visited her for a long time because it was impossible to teach her because she didn't really take anything seriously. But after reading the Book of Mormon she had a lot of questions, and we had a super good lesson. We read out of alma 36 which I have been using a lot because it talks a lot about how sweet forgiveness is. It gets a lot of people excited for a clean slate that baptism offers. So at the end of the lesson Ximena understood a lot of things, and we were able to set a date for her to be baptized on the 14th.
Saturday we had service again...we just shoveled rocks for 3 hours, it was really tiring and I kind of got frustrated because it took forever and saturday is probably the most important day of the week because we have to visit all the investigators and invite them to church. That was wrong of me though, because service is supposed to be selfless, so I tried to remember that. Plus they gave us a really good lunch after so it was worth it.
Sunday was a bit crazy too, we had to climb up the mountain to get kenti and make sure she came to church. She lives way up the mountain so we missed the first 2 hours of church. Thankfully we have the sacrament meeting last. Kenti wants to be baptized but she needed to take the sacrament 2 times first, this was the second time. We had to go with her in a car with her uncle first though so he could pick something up, then when we got back to the house and kenti was changing to go to church, the uncle started drinking a ton of beer and got too turnt so he couldn't drive us. Sacrament meeting was gonna start in 15 mins and they needed me to play the piano, and it was an hour walk so I was just praying something would work out and then kenti got her mom to drive us. We got there right at 11:30 and I walked straight in to play the opening song as he was announcing it. God answers prayers.
Kenti wasn't able to get baptized that day though because her uncle fell off a roof doing construction and was in the hospital, so as soon as the sacrament was over her mom came back to get her and go to the uncle as soon as possible. Hopefully he's okay. But I can see that the Lord works in mysterious ways, and that he allowed kenti to come to church just long enough to complete the requirements to be baptized.
Lots more stuff to tell....p-day was fun, we hiked a mountain with the whole zone.....I am out of time.
Love you all hope you have a good week!
